Disenchanted (2022) brings Giselle back to our screens—and this time, her happily ever after is a bit… messy. Set years after Enchanted, this sequel explores what happens when magic meets midlife, and it’s both charming and chaotic.

Giselle moves to the suburbs hoping for a fresh start, but nothing goes as planned. Frustrated with her not-so-fairytale life, she makes a wish that turns her world (and everyone else’s) into a twisted fairytale reality. Amy Adams is once again delightful, switching from sweet to wicked with hilarious flair.

The film has tons of fun moments and sparkly visuals, but it tries to juggle too many ideas at once. The musical numbers are fun, though not as memorable as the original. Still, there’s something super relatable about Giselle struggling with change and trying to hold on to her identity.

While it doesn’t fully recapture the magic of Enchanted, Disenchanted is heartfelt, funny, and offers a creative take on growing older in a world built on fantasy. It reminds us that happily ever after isn’t always perfect—and that’s okay. 🧡
